ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE 2010 KAVLI PRIZE LAUREATES

THE NORWEGIAN ACADEMY OF SCIENCE AND LETTERS ANNOUNCES THE 2010 KAVLI PRIZE LAUREATES. The Kavli Foundation will provide live coverage of the announcements, along with coverage of a special program at the  World Science Festival in New York – beginning with an opening address by Harold Varmus, Co-Chair of President Obama's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology. The announcements of the 2010 Kavli Prize laureates from Oslo, Norway, are followed by a panel discussion led by award-winning ABC news journalist Elizabeth Vargas.  Joining Vargas will be three renowned scientists: neurologist Antonio Damasio, nanoscience researcher Mostafa A. El-Sayed and theoretical physicist Kip Thorne. Moderating the announcements from Oslo, Norway is acclaimed scientist and science writer Jim Al-Khalili.

The Kavli Prizes recognize scientists for their seminal advances in three research areas: astrophysics, nanoscience and neuroscience. Consisting of a scroll, medal and cash award of one million dollars, a prize in each of these areas is awarded every two years beginning in 2008. COMPLETE PROGRAM
